We post about books for children all the time (it’s kinda our thing!) but we, as grown ups, love reading too…if you hadn’t already guessed. That’s why we want to share with you our Christmas reading guide just for adults! After a long term of teaching and a December filled with Christmas shows and festive jumpers, it’s time to put your feet up, grab a book and relax…

Our small team has a combined experience in schools of more years than we’d like to admit, so we know that when it comes to the holidays rest is very important. We are guessing that lots of you will be doing little bits of work here and there over Christmas, or you may be looking after your own children (and rest seem like a distant memory!), but we hope that you can still carve out some time for YOU.

Schools run on the determination, joy and dedication of staff so think of rest as a key CPD activity 🙂

Intermezzo by Sally Rooney.

Newly released and brilliant, fans of Rooney’s previous books will love this one too. Just like her other novels, this book explores the complexities of human relationships.

A Woman in the Polar Night by Christiane Ritter and Jane Degras.

A spellbinding book that is perfect for winter. Follow the memoir of Christiane Ritter as she leaves her comfortable life behind to spend a year in the far north. In this stark and unforgiving landscape, Christiane finds her true strength.

Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver.

A book that is simultaneously heartbreaking and uplifting. Let yourself be drawn in to Demon’s story and follow him as he discovers what it means to live and thrive despite his troubled childhood.

Strong Female Character by Fern Brady

A raw and unapologetic account of comedian Fern Brady’s childhood as she navigates the challenges of having an undiagnosed neurodiversity. It is gripping but with a humorous and very likeable quality.

What A Way To Go by Bella Mackie.

If you enjoyed the best selling ‘How to Kill Your Family’, then this latest installment from Bella Mackie is the book for you. A great whodunnit to escape into during the holidays!

Ebb and Flow: A Guide to Seasonal Living by Tiffany Francis-Baker.

A joyful illustrated book that encourages us to embrace each season. This is a hug-in-a-book and a great one to flick through with a hot cup of tea.
