The Story Project

Secondary Programme

Designed with teens in mind, our programme creates a safe space for pupils to discuss important wellbeing and relationship topics using contemporary texts. For use in form-time or as an intervention, the programme can be delivered by any teacher.

Currently in phase 2 pilot

An illustration of a group of three school children sit on a wall by a bus stop. One is in a wheelchair, eating an apple and reading a book. One has headphones in and is reading while sat on the wall. The other is leant against a sign and reading.

A thoughtfully designed approach

  • An illustration of two students laid on the grass. They are both looking at a book that is laid in front of them.

Covers key elements of mental health and relationships from the RSE curriculum

  • An illustration of a boy sat on the floor reading, with bookshelves behind him

A flexible programme that is ready to teach! Accessible for all teaching staff.

  • An illustration of 4 school children sitting at desks. Two are reading, one is discussing the story and the other has his hand in the air.

Embeds oracy and literacy by putting reading at the heart of learning

  • An illustration of the word 'story' where each letter includes a child reading a book. For example, on the curve of the 's' a girl is laid down reading a book.

A safe and inclusive way of teaching wellbeing, emotions and relationships

How It Works

Available for Year 7 and 8 pupils, each session is 20 minutes long and can be used as an intervention or during form-time.

Covering key themes in mental health, relationships and emotions, pupils have the opportunity to explore important topics, foster empathy, develop comprehension skills and ignite a love of fiction.

Easy to implement and with staff training included, the programme can be taught by teaching staff of any discipline. No printing needed!
