A shift in the conversation – safeguarding and PSHE
An interesting shift in the conversation…

We have attended the PiXL primary conferences for the last few years. They are always insightful, enjoyable and filled with great conversation (not to mention, the food is delicious!). Last week was no different.
However, we noticed a slight shift in the chats we were having with schools who visited our stand. More leaders were asking us how our programme supports safeguarding practices and how it engages the most vulnerable children.
This shows a real change in the way leaders see PSHE. Historically it is a subject that sometimes sat on the sidelines; a ‘tick box’ lesson or the first one to be dropped when the week gets busy. But no more! PSHE has a unique power to help children understand themselves and the world around them, to develop empathy, and to know how to keep themselves safe. It is the first rung on the ladder to creating children who thrive in and out of school. It was delightful to see so many leaders recognising this and asking us about it.

Even more delightful, was being able to show leaders our programme, which is a curriculum designed with safeguarding and wellbeing in mind. The lessons and resources are mapped against safeguarding priorities and cover many of the key issues schools are tackling in their communities, right now.
Not only that but the programme focusses on a lot of the skills that underpin safeguarding; how to disagree respectfully, how to ask for help, how to recognise emotions, how to manage relationships, how to find your voice and so much more.
So get in touch if you’re looking for a PSHE programme that helps your children keep themselves and those around them safe!
And if you’re curious what else we talk about at conferences, the second most frequent question we are asked is “do you really cover all the statutory RSHE requirements from Reception to Year 6 with books?”
And we shout this one from the rooftops because the answer is proudly and unequivocally YES, it covers everything! 📚 😀
